Custom Reclaimed Wood Furniture

Every piece of furniture from Weathered Frog tells a story. Using authentic hand-hewn beams from 1840s-1860s Pennsylvania barns, we create custom tables, benches, shelving units, and one-of-a-kind pieces that bring warmth, character, and American history into your home or business.

Why choose reclaimed wood furniture?

Unmatched Character: No two pieces are alike. Every hand-hewn mark, natural knot, and weathered surface is unique. This creates furniture with genuine soul and personality that mass-produced pieces can never replicate.

Built to Last Generations: This wood already stood for 150+ years in Pennsylvania barns. It’s proven its durability, and now it will serve your family for generations to come.

Sustainable & Eco-Friendly: By repurposing historic timber, you’re making an environmentally responsible choice that honors the past while protecting the future.

Conversation Starter: Imagine telling guests their dinner table was hand-hewn by pioneers in the 1850s. Reclaimed wood furniture isn’t just beautiful, it’s a piece of living history.

Frequently Asked Questions About Reclaimed Wood Furniture

Can you match my current furniture style?

Absolutely! While our reclaimed wood brings inherent rustic character, we can adapt our designs to complement virtually any style, from modern farmhouse to industrial, traditional to contemporary. Send us photos of your existing furniture and your space, along with any inspiration pictures you’ve collected, and we’ll create a design that works harmoniously with what you already have. We want to ensure your custom piece feels like it belongs in your home, not like it was borrowed from one with a different design aesthetic.  The only issue we have is it is very difficult to get really bleached or light colored wood.

How do I care for reclaimed wood furniture?

Reclaimed wood furniture is remarkably low-maintenance. For daily care, simply wipe with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth (not soaking wet) and dry immediately. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Remember: this wood already survived 150 years in a barn, so it’s incredibly durable. Minor scratches and dings just add to its character.

Will the color of reclaimed wood change over time?

All natural wood, including reclaimed wood, can experience subtle color changes with exposure to light and air over many years. However, because our wood is already 150+ years old and has been fully aged, these changes are minimal compared to new wood. Dark finishes may lighten slightly in areas with direct sunlight, while clear finishes might develop a warmer tone over decades. These gradual changes are part of the wood’s living character and generally enhance its beauty. If you want to minimize color change, keep your furniture out of direct, prolonged sunlight and maintain the protective finish. But in all practicality, slight color evolution just makes the piece more interesting and personal to you.

Can you build furniture from my own reclaimed wood?

Unfortunately due to the difficulty, added time with transportation, and verifying the wood is viable, we do not offer this option.
