Why settle for just a piece when you could have the whole thing?

Antique Barn Frames from America’s Past to Your Present

Looking to own a piece of American history? Weathered Frog sources and sells complete antique barn frames from 1840s-1860s pioneer settlements. These hand-hewn timber structures were built to last generations, and now they can become the centerpiece of your property, event venue, or restoration project.

Why Buy a Whole Barn?

Antique barn frames offer unmatched character, structural integrity, and historical significance. Whether you’re building a rustic home, creating a wedding venue, establishing a farm event space, or simply preserving agricultural heritage, an authentic Pennsylvania barn provides:

Genuine Historical Value: Hand-hewn by early American settlers over 150 years ago

Superior Craftsmanship: Mortise-and-tenon joinery designed to stand for centuries

Architectural Distinction: Massive hand-hewn timbers impossible to replicate with modern lumber

A Sustainable Choice: Repurposing historic structures rather than harvesting new old-growth timber

How Do We Source Authentic, Historical Barns?

We work with a network of landowners who contact us when they’re ready to part with their antique barns. While we can’t guarantee exact dimensions (barns were built to the needs of each farm, not standard sizes), we work diligently to find structures that match your requirements as closely as possible.

Our Amish partners carefully disassemble each barn, documenting the frame for reassembly and preserving every historic timber, floor board, and piece of siding. The result is a complete barn package ready for reconstruction on your property.

Frequently Asked Questions about Barns from Weatherd Frog

Can I choose the exact barn I want to purchase?

While we can’t guarantee exact barn dimensions since historic barns were built to each farm’s specific needs (not standardized sizes), we work diligently to find structures that match your requirements as closely as possible. We maintain relationships with landowners who contact us when they’re ready to part with their barns. Once we locate potential options that fit your criteria, we can provide photos, measurements, and historical information to help you make your decision.

Do you handle barn reconstruction?

Weathered Frog does not currently reconstruct barns ourselves, but we work closely with experienced barn-raising teams who specialize in reassembling antique timber frames. We can provide their contact information and oversee your reconstruction project to ensure the process goes smoothly from disassembly to reconstruction on your property. Our partners handle everything from foundation preparation to frame raising, flooring installation, siding, and roofing. We stay involved throughout to make sure your investment is protected.

How much does a reclaimed historic barn cost?

Pricing typically ranges from $55-80 per square foot for the barn frame depending on the barn’s size, rarity, condition, and historical significance. Larger or particularly rare barns may cost more. That cost includes treating the barn for bugs, but does not include siding, roofing, or foundation.

How much does sourcing and delivering a barn take?

The timeline varies depending on barn availability and your specific requirements. Sourcing the right barn can take anywhere from a few weeks to several months as we need to wait for the right structure to become available and then verify it meets your needs. Once the barn is located, shipping typically takes a week and construction can occur in as little as 10 days.  Most barn frames are assembled in 5 days or less.

What do I get when I purchase a full reclaimed barn?

Barn purchase includes all of the original first floor and loft framing including rafters, purlins, tie beams, posts, trunnels, and top plates.
